🏘️My Settlement

πŸ“ Subtitle: Learning About Where We Live

βœ… What will you learn?
By the end of this lesson, you should be able to:
βœ… Say what a settlement is.
βœ… Describe the ethnic and religious groups in your settlement.
βœ… Talk about why your settlement is located where it is.
βœ… Draw a simple sketch map of your settlement.

🏑 What is a Settlement?

A settlement is a place where people live. It can be a village, town, city, cattlepost, or lands. Some settlements are big, others are small.

Settlements have homes, schools, churches, roads, and shops. A lot of people in Botswana live in villages.

πŸ‘¨πŸΎβ€πŸ€β€πŸ‘©πŸ½ People in My Settlement

In every settlement, there are different people. They may speak different languages, eat different foods, and follow different beliefs. But they all live together and help one another.

In Botswana, many people belong to different ethnic groups like Bakwena, Bangwato, Batawana, and others. They may also belong to different religions like Christianity, Islam, African Traditional Religion, and Hinduism.

πŸ“š A Bit of History

Every settlement has a story. Ask your parents or older people the following questions about your  settlement:

  • When people first arrived.

  • Why they chose to stay there.

  • Who the first leaders were.

πŸ“ Why People Settle in Some Places

People choose where to live for many reasons. A good place to live may have:
🌱 Water for drinking and cooking
🌾 Good soil for farming
🌧️ Rainfall for growing crops
πŸ„ Grass for animals to eat
πŸ”₯ Trees for firewood
🍎 Wild fruits to eat
πŸš† A railway to move goods and people

πŸ—ΊοΈ Let’s Draw!

You can draw a sketch map of your settlement. Include:

  • Main buildings (like schools or clinics) 🏫

  • Natural features (like rivers or hills) ⛰️

  • Roads and paths πŸ›£οΈ
    Label them clearly.

πŸ’¬ Let’s Think!

  • What is the name of your settlement?

  • Which languages are spoken there?

  • Why do you think people chose to settle there?

🏞️Physical Features in My Community

πŸ“Discovering the Land Around Us

βœ… What Will You Learn?
By the end of this lesson, you will be able to:
βœ… List different physical features in your area.
βœ… Draw a simple sketch map of your surroundings.
βœ… Say how people use each feature.
βœ… Explain why physical features matter to your community.

🌍 What Are Physical Features?

Physical features are the natural and man-made parts of the land that we can see or touch. Some are created by nature 🌳, while others are made by people πŸ‘·πŸ½β€β™€οΈ.

🌿 Natural features (made by nature):

  • πŸ”οΈ Hills

  • 🏜️ Sand dunes

  • 🌊 Rivers

  • 🏞️ Valleys

  • 🏝️ Deltas

  • πŸ’¦ Springs

  • πŸͺ¨ Rocks

  • πŸ•³οΈ Caves

πŸ—οΈ Man-made features (made by people):

  • πŸ›£οΈ Roads

  • πŸŒ‰ Bridges

  • 🏒 Buildings

  • πŸ’§ Dams

🧱 How Do We Use Physical Features?

🟦 Rivers – used for water, fishing, watering crops, and sometimes for transport.
🟫 Hills – some are used for farming, others for stone or sand for building.
🟨 Dams – store water for homes, farms, and animals.
🟩 Sand dunes – used for tourism or collecting sand for construction.
πŸŸ₯ Valleys – often used for farming because they have rich soil.
πŸŸͺ Bridges – help us cross rivers and other obstacles.
⬜ Roads – help people and vehicles travel from one place to another.
🏘️ Buildings – provide homes, schools, shops, and offices.

πŸ—ΊοΈ Let’s Draw a Map!

You can draw a simple sketch map of your community!

🧭 Include:

  • A compass (🧭) to show direction: North, South, East, West.

  • Symbols for features (e.g., 🌊 = river, πŸ”οΈ = hill, β›ͺ = building).

  • A key/legend to explain your symbols.

  • Natural and man-made features around your home or school.

🌟 Why Are Physical Features Important?

✨ They help us in many ways:

  • πŸ’§ Give us resources like water, fish, and building sand.

  • πŸ‘·πŸ½β€β™‚οΈ Create jobs like farming, fishing, and tour guiding.

  • πŸ’° Bring money through tourism (e.g., tourists visit the Okavango Delta 🐘).

  • πŸŒ… Make our land beautiful and special.

  • 🧭 Help us know where places are (e.g., "The school is north of the hill.")

πŸ’¬ Let’s Think Together!

  • Which physical features can you see from where you live?

  • How do people in your community use them?

  • Why should we take care of natural features?

πŸ™πŸ½Religion and Cultural Identity

πŸ™πŸ½ Understanding Beliefs and Respecting Others

βœ… What will you learn?
By the end of this lesson, you should be able to:
βœ… Identify different religions and beliefs in your community.
βœ… Describe how people behave and celebrate in different religions.
βœ… Name important religious festivals and what they mean.
βœ… Explain why it is important to respect all religions.

πŸ› What Is Religion?

Religion is a belief in a god or gods and the way people worship. It helps people understand how to live, how to treat others, and how to stay close to what they believe is holy. People may pray, sing, fast, celebrate, or follow special rules as part of their religion.

✝️β˜ͺοΈπŸ›•β›©οΈ Common Religious Beliefs in Botswana

In Botswana, people belong to different religions. Some of them are:

Religion What They Believe
Christianity Jesus Christ is the Son of God.
Islam Jesus was a prophet, and there is one God (Allah).
African Traditional Believe in ancestors (badimo).
Hinduism Hindus believe in many gods.
Judaism Jews believe in one God and follow the Torah.
Buddhism Buddhists follow the teachings of Buddha.
BahΓ‘'Γ Faith Believe all religions come from the same God.

πŸ™πŸΏ Behaviours and Practices in Religion

People behave in special ways when they pray or worship.
Here are some examples:

  • Some people kneel, stand, or close their eyes when praying.

  • Others wash their hands, face, or feet before prayer.

  • Some people pray alone, while others gather in groups.

  • Some people travel to special places like Mecca or Jerusalem.

  • In churches, some people clap, sing, or use drums during worship.

πŸŽ‰ Religious Festivals

A religious festival is a special time when people come together to pray, celebrate, and remember important events in their religion. Each religion has festivals.

Here are some examples:

Festival Religion What It Is About
Christmas Christianity Celebrates the birth of Jesus.
Easter Christianity Remembers when Jesus died and rose again.
Eid-ul-Fitr Islam Ends the month of Ramadan. Muslims pray and celebrate with family.
Diwali Hinduism A festival of lights. Homes are decorated and prayers are made.
Dikgafela African Traditional Religion A thank-you ceremony to the ancestors for food and blessings.
Hanukkah Judaism An eight-day festival celebrating a miracle of light.
Vesak Buddhism Celebrates the birth and teachings of Buddha.

🀝 Common Beliefs in Different Religions

Many religions believe in the same good values, like:

  • There is a greater power (God or ancestors).

  • We should be kind and caring.

  • We must be honest.

  • We should do good things and help others.

  • There is life after death.

πŸ’‘ What Is Religious Tolerance?

Religious tolerance means respecting other people's religions even if they believe something different from you.
It helps us:

βœ… Live in peace
βœ… Treat each other kindly
βœ… Learn from one another
βœ… Avoid fighting or hurting each other

⚠️ What Happens When People Are Not Tolerant?

When people do not respect other religions, they may:

  • Fight or quarrel

  • Refuse to speak to each other

  • Call others bad names

  • Hurt others or stop them from praying

We must never make fun of someone else’s religion.

πŸ’ Let’s Think!

β˜‘οΈ What religion do you follow at home?
β˜‘οΈ Do you know other people who believe in something different?
β˜‘οΈ What have you learned from them?
β˜‘οΈ How do people in your religion behave when they pray?

πŸ›– Shelter and Cultural Identity

🏠 Exploring Our Homes and Traditions

Different Types of Buildings and Homes

People in Botswana build many different types of buildings and homes. Some are made from modern materials like bricks, iron sheets, glass, and cement. Others are made from natural materials such as grass, wood, mud, and reeds.

Traditional homes often depend on what materials are found in the area:

  • Bahurutshe, Barolong, and Bangwaketse use mud and thatch.

  • Wayeyi and Bahambukushu people use reeds and grass found around the Okavango River.

  • Basarwa people build temporary shelters using branches and grass.

Each home is different because of the group’s culture, the weather where they live, and the use of the building.

πŸ–ŒοΈ Decorations and Culture

Homes are not just for living. They also show our traditions. In some cultures, walls are decorated with patterns using soil of different colours. These decorations may show animals or symbols that are important to the group.

πŸͺ£ What Are Artefacts?

An artefact is something made or used by people long ago. It shows us how they lived and helps us remember our culture. In Botswana, many artefacts are still used today, especially in the home.

Here are some examples of artefacts:

  • Nkgwana

  • Sego

  • Kgamelo

  • Kika le motshe

  • Tshilwana

  • Lefetlho

  • Loswana

  • Mothubane

  • Leselo

These artefacts are important because:

  • They show how people lived in the past.

  • They are part of our cultural identity.

  • They are still used today by many people.

🧠 Let’s Think!

β˜‘οΈ What type of house do you live in? What is it made of?
β˜‘οΈ Why do people in different places build homes in different ways?
β˜‘οΈ What building materials are found in your area?
β˜‘οΈ Can you name any artefacts in your home? Who uses them?

πŸ’¬Language and Cultural Identity

πŸ—£οΈ What Is Language?

Language is how people communicate with each other using words, sounds and signs.

There are many different types of language:

  • Spoken language (like Setswana or Kalanga)

  • Sign language (using hand and finger signs)

  • Body language (how we move or stand to send a message)

πŸ—ΊοΈ Languages Spoken in Botswana

People in Botswana speak many languages. Some of them are:

  • Setswana

  • Sekgalagadi

  • Kalanga

  • Otjiherero

  • Nama

  • Naro

  • Thimbukushu

  • Shiyeyi

  • Afrikaans

  • English

  • !XΓ³Γ΅

Each ethnic group has its own language. Many people learn the language spoken at home first. Some people also learn other languages later.

🧠 Why Is Language Important?

Language helps us to:

  • Know who we are and where we come from.

  • It helps us to express our feelings.

  • It allows us to understand other cultures.

  • We can share our culture with others using language.

  • It helps us to enjoy stories and songs.

πŸ” How Languages Change

Sometimes, languages borrow words from each other. This happens when people from different groups mix. For example, the Setswana word β€œsekolo” comes from the English word β€œschool.”

πŸ‘‹ Body Language and Culture

Body language is the way we communicate using our bodies instead of words.

Different cultures use body language in different ways. For example:

  • Kneeling to give food to an elder shows respect.

  • In some groups, using both hands to give something is polite.

  • Among the Bakalanga, a young person greets an elder by placing their hands between the elder’s hands.

🀟 What Is Sign Language?

Sign language is a language used by people who cannot hear well where they use hand signs, finger movements, and body actions to communicate.

For example:

  • Pointing or waving to someone

  • πŸ‘ Thumbs up – to say yes, okay, or well done

  • A hand sign for β€œhello” πŸ‘‹

  • Crossing fingers to show luck or peace

Sign language is important for people who cannot hear or speak.

🌍 Cultural Identity

🎨Understanding Our Cultures and Respecting Others

βœ… What will you learn?
By the end of this lesson, you should be able to:
βœ… Identify your own ethnic group.
βœ… Describe things that people in your ethnic group share.
βœ… List other ethnic groups in your community.
βœ… Explain what cultural equality means.
βœ… Give reasons why it is good to live with people from different cultures.

πŸ§‘πŸΎβ€πŸ€β€πŸ§‘πŸΌ What Is an Ethnic Group?

An ethnic group is a group of people who speak the same language, follow the same customs, and live in similar ways. People in the same ethnic group often eat the same food, wear the same clothes, and believe in the same traditions.

Some examples of ethnic groups in Botswana include:

  • Bakwena

  • Bangwato

  • Batswapong

  • Baherero

  • Basubiya

  • Bakalanga

  • Balete

  • Bayei

There are many more ethnic groups living together peacefully in our communities.

🧺 What Do People in the Same Group Share?

People in the same ethnic group often share:

  • A common language

  • A special way of dressing

  • The same type of food

  • A shared totem (an animal or object that is special to the group)

  • The same type of music or dance

  • Common games or activities

  • Shared beliefs (like belief in ancestors or cultural ceremonies)

For example:

  • Many Baherero women wear long, colourful dresses with head wraps shaped like cow horns.

  • Some groups eat traditional food like bogobe, seswaa, or dikgobe.

  • Others play games such as Morabaraba or mhele.

βš–οΈ What Is Cultural Equality?

Cultural equality means that all cultures should be treated with the same level of respect. No culture is better or more important than another.

Even if someone looks, eats, or speaks differently from you, their culture is still important and should be respected.

🌈 Why Is It Good to Live with Different Cultures?

Living with people from many cultures helps us:

  • Make new friends

  • Learn different ways of doing things

  • Try new food, music, and dances

  • Enjoy colourful clothes and traditions

  • Live in peace and harmony with others

Having many cultures makes life more exciting and helps us grow as kind and smart people.

πŸ’ Let’s Think!

β˜‘οΈ What is the name of your ethnic group?
β˜‘οΈ Can you list other groups living in your village or town?
β˜‘οΈ What does your culture teach you?
β˜‘οΈ What have you learned from other cultures?

πŸ“˜ RULES

Perfect! I’ll now create a fun and clear home-learning lesson for Standard 3 Cultural Studies on the topic:

πŸ›‘ What Are Rules and Why Do We Need Them?

🌟 What You Will Learn:

  • What rules are

  • Who makes rules in the community

  • Examples of local and community rules

  • Why rules are important for everyone

🧠 What Are Rules?

A rule is a simple instruction that tells us what we should do or should not do.
Rules help us to behave well and stay safe.

πŸ§‘πŸΎβ€βš–οΈ Who Makes Rules?

Different people help make and keep rules at home and in the community:

  • πŸ‘©πŸ½β€βš•οΈ Parents – make home rules

  • πŸ‘©πŸ½β€πŸ« Teachers – make classroom rules

  • πŸ§‘πŸΎβ€πŸŒΎ Chiefs (Kgosi) – make rules at the Kgotla for the whole village

  • πŸ§‘πŸ½β€πŸ’Ό Councillors – help bring and explain rules in different areas

  • πŸ‘¨πŸΎβ€πŸ’Ό Members of Parliament (MPs) – make national rules for the country

  • πŸ•Œ Religious leaders (like pastors and imams) – help guide people to behave kindly and respectfully

πŸ“ Two Types of Rules

1. Local Rules

These are rules made for a small place like a ward or part of town.
Examples:

  • The Kgosana must be told when someone dies in the ward

  • Rubbish is collected on Tuesday and Friday

  • Visitors must report to the Kgosana

2. Community Rules

These are rules for the whole village, town or city.
Examples:

  • All dead people should be buried at the community graveyard

  • Keep the village clean

  • Do not attend the Kgotla in trousers if you are a woman

πŸ“Œ More Examples of Rules

🏠 At Home:

  • Brush your teeth in the morning

  • Pay before eating food

  • Wash your hands before eating

  • Do homework before sleeping

🏘 In the Community:

  • Do not steal

  • Respect elders

  • Greet people politely

  • Do not fight

πŸ’‘ Why Do We Need Rules?

Rules help us:

  • βœ… Know how to behave

  • βœ… Stay safe and protect others

  • βœ… Keep places clean

  • βœ… Treat everyone equally

  • βœ… Live peacefully with others

Without rules, things would be messy, unsafe, and unfair.

πŸ“Ž Quick Think Challenge:

  • What is one rule you follow at home?

  • What is one rule you follow in your community?

πŸ‘₯ LEADERSHIP IN THE COMMUNITY

🌍 Community Leaders

🌟 What You Will Learn:

  • Who leaders are in your community

  • What roles leaders play

  • How power is organized in homes, communities, and towns

🧠 What Is a Leader?

A leader is someone who makes rules and solves problems. Leaders have authority, which means they have the power to guide, protect, help, and solve problems for the people they lead.

We find leaders:

  • At home

  • In schools

  • In churches and mosques

  • In clinics and hospitals

  • In the community or country

πŸ§‘πŸ½β€βš–οΈ Examples of People with Authority

Here are some people who are leaders in your community:

  • Chief (Kgosi) – settles conflicts between people at the Kgotla and leads the village

  • Kgosana – solves problems in a ward (a small part of a village) and helps the Kgosi at the Kgotla

  • Councillor – speaks on behalf of the people in an area (not just a village) and helps bring things like roads, water, and schools

  • Member of Parliament (MP) – helps make laws and decisions for the country

  • Police Officer – arrests lawbreakers and keeps people safe

  • Traffic Officer – controls traffic and keeps roads safe

  • Teacher – helps children learn and behave well

  • Doctor or Nurse – treats the sick and teaches people how to stay healthy

  • Parent or Guardian – makes rules at home and helps children grow well

  • Pastor or Priest – teaches people in church how to love and care for one another

  • Imam – a Muslim leader who teaches the community how to live peacefully, follow God’s guidance, and care for others

πŸ’Ό What Do Leaders Do?

Let’s look at what some of these leaders do:

Leader What They Do
Kgosi Leads the village, settles disputes at the Kgotla
Kgosana Solves problems at ward level, assists Kgosi at the Kgotla

By the end of this lesson, you should be able to:

  • Say what conflict is

  • Know what causes conflict

  • Explain how conflict can hurt people and communities

  • Understand peaceful ways to solve conflict

πŸ’¬ What is Conflict?

Conflict is when two or more people disagree, argue, or fight because they want different things or think in different ways.

Conflict can happen:

  • At home – like a child refusing to do chores

  • At school – like students fighting over a turn

  • In the community – like neighbours arguing over dog waste or noise

  • Even between countries – over land or power

🧠 Example: If two children both want the same toy and they start shouting at each other, that is a conflict.

πŸ”₯ What Causes Conflict?

Conflict often begins when:

  • People disagree on something

  • Someone feels disrespected or treated unfairly

  • People refuse to listen to one another

  • Someone breaks rules

  • People are selfish or impatient

  • Something valuable is damaged or taken

⚠️ Examples of Conflict

Here are some real-life examples of conflict:

  • A parent and child arguing over chores

  • Children fighting over a toy or seat

  • Loud music disturbing neighbours

  • A quarrel about land or animals

  • One child calling another a bad name

  • Dumping rubbish in front of someone’s home

🚨 What Happens When There Is Conflict?

Conflict can make people feel:

  • 😟 Sad

  • 😠 Angry

  • 😰 Unsafe

If it continues, it can cause:

  • People to get hurt or injured

  • Homes or property to be damaged

  • People to stop talking to each other

  • An increase in fighting or stealing

  • People running away from their homes or country

  • The whole community to become unsafe

🀝 How Can We Solve Conflict?

Conflict doesn’t have to end badly. Here are ways to solve it:

  • Talk calmly and listen to each other

  • Apologise when you’re wrong

  • Explain your feelings without shouting

  • Ask an adult or elder to help

  • Respect each other’s opinions

  • In Botswana, people can visit a Kgotla where elders help solve problems fairly

πŸ’‘ Peace begins when people talk and listen to understand each other.

πŸ•ŠοΈ HUMAN RIGHTS

🌍 Knowing Our Rights and Respecting Others

🌟 Learning Goals:

By the end of this lesson, you should be able to:
βœ… Give examples of human rights
βœ… Identify rights that protect us from discrimination
βœ… Say who may be treated unfairly and why
βœ… Talk about problems caused when rights are denied
βœ… Explain how religion protects dignity
βœ… Understand why human rights are important

🧠 What Are Human Rights?

Human rights are things that every person is allowed to have or do because they are human.

They help us:

  • Live safely

  • Be treated fairly

  • Grow up healthy and happy

  • Learn and go to school

  • Speak freely and be heard

πŸ—’οΈ Examples of Human Rights

Here are some important rights that you have:

βœ… Right to life – to be safe and protected
βœ… Right to food – to eat and not go hungry
βœ… Right to education – to go to school and learn
βœ… Right to shelter – to live in a home
βœ… Right to health – to visit a doctor or clinic
βœ… Right to be treated equally – to not be judged by your gender, colour, or religion
βœ… Right to choose your religion – to go to any church or pray in your own way
βœ… Right to express yourself – to speak and be listened to

🧠 Think: What are three rights that you enjoy every day?

πŸ§‘πŸ½β€πŸ¦½ Who May Be Treated Unfairly?

Sadly, some people are discriminated against, which means they are not treated equally or with respect.

This happens to:

  • Girls (not allowed to go to school in some places)

  • Poor children

  • Disabled people (e.g., cannot access buildings)

  • People of a certain skin colour or religion

  • Sick people or those with HIV/AIDS

πŸ’¬ β€œDiscrimination is when people are treated unfairly just because they are different.”

🚫 What Happens When Rights Are Denied?

If people are not given their rights, they may:

  • Live in poverty

  • Miss school or be forced to work

  • Go hungry or sleep in the streets

  • Become sick without help

  • Turn to begging or stealing

πŸ•ŠοΈ How Religion Helps Protect People’s Rights

Many religions teach people to:

  • Treat others with kindness and respect

  • Care for the sick, poor, and orphans

  • Build schools and clinics

  • Live in peace and unity

πŸ’› Why Are Human Rights Important?

Human rights help us to:

  • Live peacefully

  • Go to school

  • Get help when we are sick

  • Be protected from harm

  • Be treated fairly, no matter who we are

🌱 "Every child deserves to grow in love, peace, and safety."

πŸ“ Activities to Try!

  1. Draw pictures showing your top 3 human rights

  2. Write a short story about a child who is treated unfairly β€” and how it can be made right

  3. Act out: A scene where someone is denied a right and another person stands up for them

πŸ’– CARING FOR OTHERS

πŸ‘¨β€πŸ¦³πŸ‘©πŸ½β€πŸ¦½Why We Care and How We Do It

🌟 Learning Goals:

By the end of this lesson, you should be able to:
βœ… Describe how to care for others β€” including siblings, grandparents, and sick people
βœ… Understand how to stay safe while caring for those with diseases
βœ… Show kindness, love, and empathy to those in need

πŸ§πŸ½β€β™‚οΈ Why Do We Need to Care for Others?

Some people cannot take care of themselves. They may be:

  • πŸ‘Ά Very young

  • πŸ‘΄πŸΎ Very old

  • πŸ§‘πŸ½β€πŸ¦½ Disabled

πŸ‘¨β€πŸ‘©β€πŸ‘§β€πŸ‘¦FAMILY

Changing Roles in the Family

🧩 What is a Family?

A family is a group of people who are related to each other and live together or support each other. Families give us love, protection, and guidance.

A family usually includes parents (mother and father), children, and sometimes grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

🏺 Traditional Roles in the Family (Long Ago)

In the past, families followed clear roles based on gender and age. Everyone had a duty, and people were expected to follow certain customs.

πŸ‘΄πŸ½ Fathers and Adult Men:

  • Worked in the fields (ploughing and planting crops).

  • Looked after cattle, goats, and donkeys.

  • Built houses (especially thatched huts) and kraals.

  • Made important family decisions.

  • Collected thatching grass and wood for construction.

πŸ‘΅πŸ½ Mothers and Adult Women:

  • Took care of babies and young children.

  • Cooked meals using firewood and three-legged pots.

  • Fetched water and firewood (often from far away).

  • Made clay pots and wove mats.

  • Helped in the fields during harvest time.

  • Passed down cultural knowledge through storytelling.

πŸ‘¦πŸ½ Boys:

  • Herded animals.

  • Helped build fences or scare birds from the crops.

  • Learned skills from their fathers (e.g.,hunting).

πŸ‘§πŸ½ Girls:

  • Helped sweep the yard and wash dishes.

  • Collected water in clay pots.

  • Cooked simple meals under supervision.

  • Looked after younger siblings.

  • Helped their mothers with cleaning and basket weaving.

πŸ™οΈ Roles in the Modern Family (Today)

Today, family life looks very different. People live in cities, go to school, and use technology to make life easier.

πŸ‘©πŸ½ Women and Mothers Today:

  • Work outside the home as teachers, nurses, police officers, and even drivers.

  • Help earn money for the family.

  • Share decision-making at home.

  • Still care for children, but with help from others (including fathers).

  • Some women are heads of families.

πŸ‘¨πŸ½ Men and Fathers Today:

  • Some stay home and take care of children (stay-at-home dads).

  • Cook meals, wash clothes, and help clean the house.

  • Help with homework and attend school meetings.

  • Encourage daughters to go to school and dream big.

  • Respect and support women as equals.

πŸ‘§πŸ½πŸ‘¦πŸ½ Children Today:

  • Help with light chores like setting the table or tidying up

  • Both boys and girls can cook, clean, and help in the garden

  • Have more time to study and play

  • Use tablets, phones, or TVs for learning

  • Go to school and sometimes daycare while parents work

πŸ’¬ Before: Boys only herded cattle.
Now: Boys and girls share chores equally.

πŸ”„ Why Have These Changes Happened?

  • More girls go to school and become professionals.

  • Families live in towns with electricity, water, and jobs.

  • Machines and technology help us save time.

  • Equality between men and women is encouraged.

  • Parents share the household load because both may have jobs.

❀️ How Do These Changes Affect Family Life?

βœ… There’s more sharing of responsibilities at home.
βœ… Children learn to respect all types of work.
βœ… Families may have less time together, as parents work and children attend school.
βœ… Some grandparents feel left out if traditions are forgotten.

🧠 Let’s Think: Are today’s family changes good or bad? Why?
